MSM Recipe For Glowing Skin

In our Holistic Skincare Secrets Class we talked about so many of the preventive measures you can take to slow down the aging process, and help heal skin conditions like acne, psoriasis and eczema. We looked at the causes of many of these conditions, and what to supplement with as well as use topically to have the most beautiful glowing skin. One of the topical treatments we covered was wa "miracle skin healer" known as MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). MSM is a nutrient that you have probably already consumed in many of the healthiest foods, because it is actually an organic sulfur compound that is found in many of the foodswe eat such as broccoli, cabbage and Brussels sprouts.

Minimal heating of these foods keeps the highest level of MSM intact for maximum nutritional benefit. But MSM can also be found in a white, oderless, powdered, supplement form. It is very well known among athletes and arthritis sufferers for its ability to help relax the joint tissue and restore flexibility.

But in terms of skincare, MSM is truly one of the best topical treatments to use on the skin. It has a powerful ability to penetrate deeply into the layers of the skin, is especially healing for dry skin, thinning-aging skin, and also for stretch marks.

The sulfur compound in MSM also has an anti-inflammatory and skin-repairing effect, which makes it great for skin conditions such as eczema, acne and psoriasis, all of which have inflammation at the core. It helps smooth and soften acne scars, and can shorten the healing of existing lesions.

When MSM is applied directly to the skin it makes the skin cells more permeable, more absorbent, and more receptive to any other ingredients you use with it. That is one reason that one of my all time favorite facial mists includes aloe vera gel, MSM, and rose essential oil. The MSM really helps the rose oil penetrate, which is a good thing considering that rose essential oil in and of itself is a miracle skin ingredient (but also very expensive).

MSM helps even skin tone, diminish hyper-pigmentation and age spots, as well as fade age spots and sun damage with external application. It is known for having a brightening and luminizing effect on the skin and over time may also help reduce uneven skin tone and help correct areas of darker pigmentation.
